Default Flight of the Snowy Egret

Snowy Egret, flying very close to water surface.

20D + 300 f/4 IS + 1.4X TC 1/1000sec f/11 ISO 400. This is full frame, so used small f to get bill to toe inside dof. sw: DPP

Flight shots are fun especially when you get a good one like this -- there seems to be something in lower right -- at first I thought they were specs or flotsom -- then I thought it might be water drops -- then I was thinking the picture might improve at bit if the spots were cloned out.

These are water drops, I think they add to the image so I kept them :)

Wing position and sharpness look good and the reflection of the water on the far wing adds interest. I might remove the sheen on bill, feet and legs.

How interesting how we can see things so differently!

It is a lovely image and I especially liked the sheen on the legs and feet as they gave the impression of wetness. You can see the tiny drops of water just coming off of the feet; I would guess that if there were more room at the RHS of the image we would see the drops dropping down from the feet to the water which would hae been cool.

When was this shot; just curious since it is from your 20D.

    I do like it!
    Cheers, Jay

Very nice image with good exp, detail, and pose. I'd clone out the drops as they don't really look like drops to me.

Hi Arash, good use of aperture, and you nailed the exposure nicely. This is really sharp, and agree the reflection on the underwing does add to the image.

Great job all the way around! I like the reflecting water under the wing.

I'd keep the water droplets. Good choice on aperture; you really did get the bird sharp from head to toe. Another vote for removing the specular highlights.

Great image Arash. Good to see it's from 2006 - now I don't feel so bad about my backlog:D
Great reflection under the wing with good detail. I like the wetness on the beak and legs - perfect image for me!!

Super exposure showing good feather detail. I also like the reflection below the wings. Nice image well done.

Just lovely, even the second image. The f11 amazes me here as well as the ISO 400! Love the "Push-up" pose:D
