Kostas the way to get it nice and sharp is to use Live View, not sure if your camera has it or not. But you can make sure that your subject is really in focus.

    Hi Jackie
The overall softness and lightness is very, very nice. The lily is a lovely subject and for me this portrait captures much of the fragility and softness of the flower. A terrific image.

I have come back to your image several times to try to figure out if there is a way to make it even better. I am sure this is all personal taste, but there is something about the composition that doesn't quite work for me. I think the composition may be out of balance in some way. The curving lines are great and work to hold the image together exquisitely. Perhaps it is the contrast of the lovely curving lines opposed to the straight up and down spine of the petal? Or perhaps the center line divides the image too strongly? Maybe the spine needs to be diagonal? I am not sure the two curves at the bottom support the composition or lead us away? The other thing I looked at was the imbalance on either side of that 'center' line???

I hope this doesn't sound negative because I like the image very much. If it were mine, I'd be very pleased, and yet want just a bit more from it.

    Keep up the great work:D :D :D
    Cheers
    Gail

Gail, thanks for your detailed critique.:D:D:D I am no expert on composition. This is pretty much full frame but just cropped in a little tighter. If you have any ideas feel free to post. I really appreciate you taking the time to look.

Hi Jackie - Like this a lot - for my tastes the composition works well, with the leaves lower left and right balancing the composition nicely.\
Might be tempted to add just a touch of contrast and selectively enhance the yellows just a tad.

    Like it a lot!!

Jackie, beautifully done and seen. I love the curving lines, repeating on the inside and over the top. The tones
are well done - it's a very peaceful image as a lily should be:)

i like the compo. it has a nice feel to it. personally, i like it a little better with a slight contrast boost. helps define the petal better and separate it more from the bg.

i can see gail's point about the main spine being better at more of a diagonal. i think both compos could work!!

    Hi Jackie
Unfortunately we haven't got enough surplus pixels here :) What I am think is that the spine needs to be a 'S' rather than an upside down backwards 'J'. I hope the lily still lives somewhere for more photographic fun.
I tilted the image CCW to get the spine curve I am thinking of. My attachment isn't an edit of the image, just an attempt at getting a curve in the spine.

    Hope this makes sense.

    Cheers

Jackie, this is lovely and elegant. I have read the other comments, but I like the way you have composed this. The flower's subtle texture is complemented by the neutral BG. Very nice!:)

Thank you Julie and everyone for your comments. I had a nice trip to the florist and picked out some lovely flowers. Tomorrow I am hoping to do justice to some purple iris.:)
