Wanted to post a couple of shots taken with the new Nikon 2x III tc taken with the 500mm vr.
Only sharpen the eye a little, and clone some of the branches from the BG behind and above the Heron.
Wanted to get some opinions on the sharpness.

It looks sharper than I've seen with the older 2x tc. Somewhat soft (maybe that is what the birds feathers should look like?) but at 1000mm looks pretty good to me.
Looking forward to getting out with mine (just got).

Hi OZ - tad soft maybe - but looking pretty good.
Big question....... how much does it slow the AF?????
always stayed away from the 2X just slowed the AF too much.

Auto focus was not all that bad, it hunted a little, when I took this one he was in the shade underneath some brush. Definitely not good enough to track a bird in flight.

Pretty sharp if you just did the eye Oscar. Would look pretty sharp with some PP.

Quite sharp for 2x, Oscar, especially without pp sharpening.

Oscar, I'd be happy to have that sharpness:) I love the richness of the colors.
