Too funny, Dale. The dark cloudy skies compliment the caption which made me laugh. Thanks for posting!!
Hi Dale - do include all your tech details and any PP that you have done when posting - will help everyone help you.

1 D MKIV - 1/1000 sec plus 1 EV F 6.3 ISO 200
100 - 400 at 400 mm metering spot
sorry about not including DEL
No Worries :)
Interesting Image (love the title)- feel it may have been stronger with some eye contact - nice overall feel. Looks a little contrasty on my screen.
not sure about the use of spot metering - but if it works for you thats all that really matters.
Looking forward to seeing more.
I like the composition of this image, and the angle at which it was taken. Beacuse I like seeing shots that also portray a sense of the conditions that it was taken. In this case the wild surf in the bg. I'm not sure if that makes for a better photo, but it's something I like to see from time to time.
Btw, what are the birds in the shot?
Very unusual capture but original. Lots of details on your subjects. Can't tell on my monitor if the blacks are a little over. I would also like to know what are they?
Congrats
Being from Illinois not really sure but think they are 1st winter Herring Gull. Would appreciate someone to correct me. Thanks for comments DEL
Uniques composition for sure - what was spot reference point - in or out of frame?
I am aright with spot when the main subject falls within its own shadow; when scene contrast is high or when you want to saturate a specific area within the frame. Assume you metered the water or your palm and added one stop?
