    I figure this is about 65% of what I was wanting to get in this image. Almost but not quite. What do you think?
    Canon 40D, 100-400L, iso 320, 8:47am
    1/2500, f/7.1. partial metering PS edited all I know

    What 65% did you get? :) The BG is a bit dark for my taste but I like the pose and eye contact. I wish for more BG/leg separation and it seems the feet are clipped.

    I'm a big fan of dark BGs. I do wish to see the feet a little better, and some of the head looks a little bright, but that's really minor in what I see as really good image.

    This Roseate flew over me to a nearby lake and then turned back and banked into the dark portion between tree tops and the ground and I created this image in the banked position. I darkened some spots in the background and brought out the pinks in CS3 levels and did all I know to do in CS3 to help this image. I think it is 65% of a good image and hope for better next time. :)

    I'd give it a lot more than 65%, but then I've never even seen one of these (hope that changes in March).

    I hope you do too Jim. They are absolutely beautiful birds and a behold to see and capture in person. Don't you dare leave Florida without capturing these and I hope you get all award winning images. :)
