I was at Bosgue del Apache, New Mexico the week before Thanksgiving, for the "Festival of the Cranes". These are two of the 20,000 Sandhill Cranes that had arrived from the Colorado Rockies for the winter. Late afternoon, every day, the Cranes returned to the marsh area after feeding above the Farm Loop during the day. Incredible lighting that changed rapidly as the sun was setting. All I can think about is returning to Bosque.
Nikon D300, Nikon 300/2.8 lense, ISO 400, F/5 at 1/1600, Manual, Hand Held (I did use my tripod for many shots)
You should go back and photograph the other 19,998 you didn't get;). This is a very nice flight image which has the eye of both cranes sharp , which is a big plus. The rich blue sky is a great BG for these beautiful subjects.
Really great timing on this one Ken and as mentioned the sharpness on both eyes is not always easy to get. the lighting is lovely and good detail. I would crop a little from the right and perhaps add a tad of canvas on the left to off center the cranes. Well done and many thanks for sharing Ken.
