Got this Whitetail buck looking back just before he jumped down into this ravine and ran off. Early morning sun was blocked by a big hill providing the contrast in lighting. 40D, 1-400L @ 400mm, f6.3, 1/320s, ISO 400, -1/3 EC, handheld, cropped a bit from top and left.

Very interesting light Steve. You used it very well and create a very nice image. Like the combination of shadow background and well lit foreground. Very nice eye contact and head turn. All in all a very nice image.

Not the best profile of this lovely looking Buck (:D), but the head looking back does make it. The light does also help pick out the rich red coat of this animal well. Is there anymore foreground, thought a tad more might help?

The head turn is very effective in that lovely early light Steve, bringing out it's color well.

Hey Steve, good look back pose, and love the rim light on the antlers. Overall nice and sharp, and what light you had, shows up the colours nicely. Well captured.

This is gorgeous imo Steve, the dramatic lighting on the buck and your comp make this special.
