    Default Ring-Necked Duck

Another Mark IV duck image. I'm hoping to get some flight shots with the new body at the Bosque this weekend.

Very nice exposure, as always, with the irradescence showing well. Is that a drop of water on the tip of the bill?

Edited after observing other photos of their bills. They do have a a little hook at the tip.

Very nice Doug! These guys are quite a challenge, with the dynamic range and critical angle to get the colors to come out. Which 400mm were you using?

Good job on getting details inboth the blacks and the whites -- the water droplets on the duck stand out nicely

Bautifully exposed Doug. Having just had a session with goosanders last weekend I know it is not easy to get the iridesence showing on waterfowl heads. As you say light angle is critical. I would prefer the image with a little more space around the bird but its a wondeful portrait of the species. The mkIV really produces such great quality images.

    Cheers

Stunning duck. Love the light and clean eye. Patterns on flanks makes this one for me, congrats Doug.
