Gorgeous background and I like the composition with the bird looking into the picture and I like the perch stretching off to the right. The head looks a little soft to me and I'm thinking that 7.1 F-stop was not enough dof to carry the sharpness.

Jonathan, I love the composition and the BG. Great eye contact and HA. The angle of the perch really complements the direction of the tail.

I agree the head does look a bit soft, the original is a little sharper. Here is another, I sharpened the RAW file then applied Smart Sharpen to the resized image with a little further additional sharpening to the head.

    Hello Jon,

Love the nice pose, HA and the composition in this one. Repost is better and your perch choices are great. Your set ups are getting better and better. Thanks for sharing.

Great picture Jonathan! Repost does look sharper, but I would run NR on the BG to nicely polish it up. Awesome perch and pose.

Nicely done Jonathon. These are not easy birds to photograph as 90% of the time they seem to be looking in the wrong direction. It is also good that you managed to get one in a pose with the tail down which has made it better in terms of composition with the bird off to the right. I like the perch!

    Cheers

    Rich
