    This kingfisher was kind enough to hover just a couple of metres from the hide I was sitting in. 40d, 300 f2.8 + 2x conv., f 6.3, ISO 400, 1/2000, handheld.

    Very nice. The KF sure isn't an easy subject to get close to or expose well. Looks like you managed both.

    Now if you could have just paid him to look at you a little ;)

    Very nice Stephan, great exposure at action stopping SS, well done. The only thing that could have really put this over the top is more attractive lighting.

    Great shot, Stephen - lovely focus and exposure control. Pity about the harsh light. A bit of fill flash may have improved that. A bit of selective tone adjustment with the eye is worth a try. I also lightly dodged some of the shadows and darkened the sky

    Good work. I like all the changes apart from the eye. Maybe a touch too far on that area.

    I like them both!.. just to get an opportunity to see one of these birds would do me...let alone get superb images like this.
