Out on the Mississippi yesterday, Reeds Landing, MN. The sun was actually shining.
This male eagle saw a small fish frozen in the ice under a little
puddle of water. (he was sitting with his mate, she was a fair bit larger).
50D, 400DO with 1.4x canon, F7.1, iso 250, 1/1600, of a feisol tripod with wimberly head. AV mode

The wing position and detail, the feet extended, the color and the accompanying story -- all are outstanding. The detail in the head (whites, eye and beak) are good as well.

I like the folded back wing position, together with the extended legs. Good sharp detail, and agree the ice does add to the image. I hope you got the next frame with the fish in his claws. You did - right????

great timing, exposure and pose...I also want to see the next frame! if anything I think a slightly lower angle would have improved this...

Hi Don, Nice image. I agree withe the other, great action! This maybe be the way the scene looked but the perspective the ice and lines in the water gives suggests that some Clockwise Rotation might be called for. Thanks for sharing.

Sorry to say the fish he was after was encased in the ice, and he couldn't
get it. Thanks for the comments. I can see a little clockwise rot. might help.
He landed on the ice. IE the title.. :D :D :D
