Our snow storm situation has gone from interesting to dangerous. We are in the midst of a blizzard that is really paralyzing the Washington, DC area. This is the view out a back window of the house at midday with snow still blowing in from the North.

D700, Nikkor 24-120mm VR @102mm, f/36, 1/125s, ISO 1600, handheld -VR on. Raw file worked up in PS CS4, saturation pumped up then Topaz 2 - Detail - bold detail filter used for this result.

Bud, I hope you are all safe! Amazing to see what's happening to the barn day to day. I really like the chosen technique here - so beautiful. I know you won't like looking at it now but one day I really think you need to frame and hang this one.

Bud you know how we felt in 2008, we got 14 feet of snow in one year, this year we barely have a foot....wish some of this snow was falling in Olympic site for downhill...Lovely work on the image, I also think this would look great framed....TFS

Bud, Really nice series you have here. The tones and the winter scene are pleasing. The drift at the bottom of the frame is a tiny bit distracting.IMHO.:)

Nice series, Bud. Viewing how the amount of snow on that shed goes up through your series helps to grasp just how much snow it is you've gotten. I like the details in this, and good composition with the icicles. Stay safe! :)

Thanks to all for your comments and well wishes. Not sure what the dawn will bring - the high winds are blowing snow into drifts and the snow is still falling. We now have a new record for the most snow in a Winter season since records have been kept for the DC area !

Bud, nice image but like the rest I hope you remain safe and secure.

I remember when my bother went to school there in the 60's and talked about 1" storms shutting the city's in the DC area. Coming from the midwest, it was humorous to hear of their plight. The storms you are experiencing now were common to us then. But we also had the equipment to remove the snow and the knowlege in dealing with it. It wasn't fun and I know it isn't for you. But we did as you are doing and just made the most of it. Luckily Florida does not have many blizzards, but we could use a little heat down here right now!

Keep the shutter clicking and enjoy it while you have to.

Very nice image! I like the unusual point of view, the icicles, and the post processing is just great.
