    Default Barred Owl

I shot this owl last week during one of Jim Neiger's workshops.

The weather was far from ideal and the light levels were quite low.
I had to use the lens wide open and push up the ISO to 3200 in order to get a more or less
decent shutter speed (still not enough to get sharp shots consistently).

    Barred Owl
    Lake Tohopekaliga, Kissimmee, Florida

    Canon 7D + 500L, handheld on a pontoon boat.
    ISO 3200, 1/1000s, f/4. Processed in LR and PS3.
I extended the canvas a little on the bottom and repaired the tip of the last feather, which was clipped.

Way to go Luis, you did well. head is sharp. It is a bit tight in the frame, I would add canvas to the right and bottom. detail is pretty good, btw you should show this to people who say ISO 3200 is not for birding ;)

    Cheers,

    Great details !!

I would be tempted to crop some off the left. The bottom may look a bit tight though.

loved the sharp eyes, the wing blur adds well, agree on being a bit tight a bit more room towards the flight direction would work well...

Thanks all for the great feedback.
I spent some time "adding" canvas to the right and bottom sides. I hope it doesn't look too artificial.

Well done, Luis! This is not an easy shot under any conditions. Getting this image with the conditions we had is quite an achievement. :)
