this guy was building the nest Sunday morning at Wako. i had the 300mm on and knew i was gonna cut the wings, so i went for a headshot in flight!!

D300, 300 f/4 at f/7.1, 1/2500s, ISO 640, +0.7EV. cropped a little from both sides. i know the whites are a little over. not much i could do there. i missed the exposure by between a third and two-thirds of a stop. oops!

thanks for looking. comments and critiques much appreciated.

Great detail... Sometimes I just hate primes.... Give me my zoom back! By the way, did this guy pull a permit?

Since you sent the HA police after me, they wont be able to tell you about the great eye contact :D

Hi Mr H - Whites over - Tsk Tsk. :)
Like the composition and good idea when clipped anyway.
Like the nesting material and clear sharp eye.

Nice capture, like the sharp eye, and nesting material, nice action. Would have been alot better without the whites problem.

Nice behavior and I like the framing. If you start from scratch I think you can remedy most of the above mentioned problem.
