I would guess a sharp-skinned Hawk, mostly based on the size of the head and beak. However, that could be the angle. I could be wrong - wouldn't be the first time. Good image, I would try and lighten the bird a bit - so it stands out from the background. You also might want to blur the background a tad more.

it looks like you did a fair job of minimizing that busy bg. may try to darken it a little. i dont think lightening the bird will help. probably blow the whites. i just looked at mine and dont even want to tackle that bg!!!

and btw, the HAP are on their way to your house. at least one night in jail!!!!:)

    Hi Oz - HAP :)
I have never seen these guys or could just be my screen as well - are the feathers supposed to be white?? On my screen they seem to have a blueish cast.
Like the one foot pose - Ha well Mr H has placed you under arrest for that :)
Good clear sharp eye and nice details.

Hey Oz.... Does look like a slight blue cast, even in the perch. I've never seen this bird. Nice detail. Did you use Better Beamer or straight flash? By the way, I know a good bondsman so you won't have to spend the night in jail.

I like the pose with the lifted foot. There's a blue/cyan cast that can be corrected by setting white point. The trick to pulling
the subject away from the background is to mask out subject and perch, then adjust it and the background separately
    (curves, etc.). Nice capture.

I like what David did to remove the blue cast and lighten up the bird. It looks like a Cooper's Hawk to me, but they can be hard to identify at times. The HAP have visited me many times but I have survived. Other than that Nice Capture.

Nice David - certainly looks better on my screen.

I have learnt to ask the question first - not being familiar with these birds :)
