This is the female, note that Mountain Foxes are lighter than Red Foxes, even though they are a sub-species of the Red. She is no longer with us because a wrangler shot her while she defended her pups. Tough world and weird civilization. This is from my first trip with Dale, still using Nikon.

    Lovely Fabs

A nice overall soft feel to the image yet sharp eyes to draw in the viewer.

A great moment very well recorded.

I might try cutting a little of the brighter section off the bottom but making sure there is still enough for the "virtual legs".

Sad story, beautiful shot Fabs. I didn't know about the coats being lighter. Like the snow on the nose. Maybe she was hunting for voles or mice:)

You've captured a great look from mum here Fabs, good position in the frame with the curved tail and eye contact, VWD.

The color balance/WB of this image is amazing Fabs, so is the exposure. Feel so sad for the fox :( BTW where was this that you can shoot a wild fox and walk away?

Unfortunate. Sad to hear that this fox was shot. A slight crop from the bottom would be even better. Thanks for sharing.

Sad to hear she was shot, not the first time I've heard about a fox being shot an I just don't understand why anyone would want to.

Great shot though, beautiful colours and pose.

Love the alert stance of the fox and the eye contact. Like the snow on the nose as well.
