    From my recent Florida trip. This was at a local bird santuary in Tavernier. The Pelicans are very, very close and sometimes too close to photograph. Was hand holding a 300 f4 and often had to back up some just to do a portrait.

    400 ISO f4 at 1/6400th

    Very strong shadow, but in this case I think it actually adds to the image.
    Brings nice texture to it IMO.
    Interesting and effective crop too. I only wish you did not clip the feathers
    on the LH side. Great eye contact too. Very nice portrait.

    Obviously incredible close up and awesome details. I wish you had backed up a bit more so that the feathers on the back of the head had space.

    Really like this comp as well. nice angle on the head and placement fo the eye.
