Like with much other gear, people will believe in different values on what is overpriced. But more important in choosing a tripod, is what you are going to use it for. Landscapes only? consumer telephoto? Super telephoto? The requirements for each of these situations are different.

Also Chris Tripods range from $30 to over $1000 so you will need to get a little more spcific with yor question. As stated above what will be your primary use and what is your budget.
