Photographed last week in overcast light at Little Estero Lagoon.

This is my first post that was processed using my new monitor so hopefully I managed to get it calibrated correctly.

Looking forward to your comments and critiques !

Beautiful pink hues. I might crop some off of the bottom of the frame.

Your monitor seems to be fine Mike - the white plumage has been rendered correct to my eyes. Love the selective focusing here and the diffused light from an overcast sky. I would tend to crop about half the foreground from bottom to strengthen the composition.

No critiques at all from my side. Maybe I would like to know more about your composition decision. I suppose many of the commenters will suggest to crop a bit from the bottom while I am not sure in it.
    The colors are fantastic.

Colors and light and image all lovely. I do not wish for a crop from the bottom, I wish that you had pointed the lens up equal to the lenght of one of the bird's leg so that you had much more purple at the top and much less a the bottom. Great head angle and to bad that the birdie did not lift its golden slipper all the way out of the water. You need to pray to them in those situations. Nice bit with the flash at -3; where did you learn that one? :)

    later and love, artie

I like the pastel colors and the perfect whites.

Did you use Bi Cubic sharper when resizing? There is the tiniest hint of a halo around the bill. I mean really really tiny.

Very nice, Mike. This is my style of image. On low angle shots I really like the mood that negative space at the bottom of the frame creates; BUT, that depends on whats at the bottom of the frame. I like this.

Beautiful image, Mike. I like the soft pastel colors and the moody feel to the image. Perhaps a crop from the bottom.

I agree with the bottom crop suggestions. Perhaps a bit of tweaking the vertical height of the camera might have gotten either the pink or blue BG completely behind the bird.

Great image, Mike. Lovely pastels and lovely whites. I like it as posted but agree that having the bird lower in the frame would be nice - more background and less foreground
