What to carry for BIF

Seems ime always packing to much to carry :o Just wondering what you take for a one mile hike in the woods for wildlife BIF photos. And how do you carry and pack it..:D

i take a 7d or 1dmk3 always my 500f4isL+1.4tc always on a monopod over my shoulder. then a HD camcorder spare batterys, camo net or gille suite, rodevideo mic + boom arm, spare cf cards and my packup .
this all goes in a large camo bag .
Often i dont make the mile lol

And stay away from nuclear plants. My wife and I were once interrogated for photographing too close to a nuclear plant. We told the officer we were photographing snowy owls, but he didn't buy it.

I usually carry my 600mm with a tripod and a 400mm f5.6 for BIF shots. It gets heavy after a while but keeps me fit too. I always carry extra batteries and chips as well.

Nancy has me intrigued with their invention...called her today...thanks for the chat.

My flight gear is 7D or 5D MKII attached to 500 f/4 + TC and a gitzo CF monpod + RRS head with strap tied to my belt. I only use the monpod when I want to rest or for perched birds, hand hold most of the time.

Canon 1D4, 500f4, 1.4x TC, spare memory cards and a spare battery. I don't use a tripod but have two neck straps, one on the camera, one on the lens, in case one of them breaks.

It seems to be effective for what it's designed for. I do have some questions though if you don't mind me asking:

1. Do you walk around "wearing" that with the lens and everything when you're not shooting?
2. What about if the birds are not flying across in front of you at your eye level?

Desmond I would be happy to answer your questions:). Yes, I walk with the lens on for the whole purpose is to be ready and we made it to be comfortable to do that. For example at my local wetlands, I drive in and get to a central location then if I see there is activity I put on the harness and lens and off I go up and down the bank. You have as much flexibility as having your lens on a Wimberley head, just with The Quick Action Harness you are using your body as the tripod and gimbal.
