    Default Lens Cleaner

I'm hesitant to start this thread as this topic usually ends in controversy but I just tried Purosol Optical Lens Cleaner on my 500/4 and I was very happy at how beautifully it cleaned the glass without leaving one streak. Typically, I have to chase after streaks endlessly after getting the initial crud off my lenses. I can't remember where I bought it but its available at Adorama and B & H. Just sharing a good experience!

Thanks for the heads up Danny. I've always used the Zeiss cleaner and a microcloth that are commonly bought at wholesale clubs nowadays. Very effective both products. I would always recommend that one NEVER wipe their leneses with any ammount of pressure. Use only enough to do the job but start off very, very, gentle--almost to the point of letting the weight of the cloth do the job. The caution is because if the cloth or the lens has a particle on it this can do some scratching. A good blowing off the glass and shake out of the cloth is wise first. The cloths I use are 16" X 16" and are handy for many other photo uses. Keep the one you use for lens cleaning in a zip lock freezer bag.
