one of my favorite birds, mr lance!!! love the pose and the soft light really makes it shine. wonder if a few points of contrast might make this one pop?

Hi Mr H - HMM if it needs a few points of contrast I better re-calibrate thought it might need a coupe of the opposite.

lance, you must excuse me!! it's been awhile since i did some critiquing. you are exactly correct. i gotta add though, some density to the highlights on the perch would help my eye.

sorry about that. i'll snap to in a bit!:)

Nice detail for slow shutter and TC. I like the tall vert composition. If anything less sat on the colors - maybe not - let's see what the field say's. Great moment in nature, wish it were mine!

Nice sharpness, nice pose and I really like the eye contact. The lens with the TC really did the job. Was the -1.3EV as shot?

Lance I like your comp. Looks a little dark to me. But good pose and HA. Did you do much sharpening, I know sometimes it is SOC for you.

    Lance,

Greetings. What a beauty! I'd put in a little CCW (with a slight shift to the left to maintain some space in the LL corner), and perhaps a slight crop of the darkest part off the top. The CCW would take the perch off the main diagonal strengthening the comp on the subject.

    1/60th from a boat & a 200-400 + 1.4x, you say? ;) I guess you can't argue with results!

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

Love the pose, the looking a little up HA, and the details. But what really make this image for me is the zigzag perch, like it very much. Wish the dark OOF background on the top right corner isn't there.

Hi Jackie - could nearly agree with you - maybe a tad dark, amongst the mangroves on the creek edge so it was dark. From memory not much sharpening here.

Michael - Yes 1/60th - Dont forget was using flash also!!

Don't think more contrast is needed :)

Another good one, Mr Lance ! Like the look of the bird.
