    Default Catch of the day

One of my favourate subjects - a Pied Kingfisher. Taken in the Pilanesberg Game reserve last year August. A sacrifice of a 200km drive, and getting out of bed at 4.00am to be there for first light. The debri on the perch are fish scales.

Sharpness, eye contact and BG look good, the fish adds to it. I wish the perch were a bit smaller. The whites are quite bright and have a slight blue cast.

Hey Stuart, nice catch by both of you:D. As mentioned, you have some quite bright whites (including what looks like a blown portion at the throat). Good pose, love the swept feathers on the head. I would rework the eye to make the pupil blacker. Nice to have the fish facing this way!

Very nice pose Stuart, sharp and nice BG. I am not sure about the empty space below the perch would crop tighter. TFS

Great catch! I think you selectively brighten up the eye too much as the PK eyes are pretty dark and look almost black rather than brown.

Agree about the whites being tosted but love the smooth BG and pray. Nice eye contact from both.
