    Default Surf Scoter

Photographed at Barnegat Light in soft light due to high clouds. I removed some specular highlights.

These bills are so colorful, I am surprised at how close you got...when I was a Barnegat last time they were just specs in my images...lovely exposure and sharpness...thanks

Having seen a few of these guys posted recently, their detail and colours still amaze me. Good exposure on the darker plumage, and I like the soft colour of the sea BG.

Thanks, Paul! They don't always come this close. If there are not too many people on the jetty and you don't move much, they don't seem to mind but they certainly keep an eye on you. :)

Another great one, Axel. I've never been able to get them this close either. Patience pays off. I particularly like the touches of reflected color and the red foot to compliment the bill colors.

Axel this is stunning...and probably the best static image of a Surf Scoter I've seen photographed from that jetty. I love the sharpness and the background. The exposure is absolutely perfect.

This is definitively one species I would love to see some day. Nice exposure and colors. The new camera seems to be doing a fine job, just as you.
