Is anyone familiar with their migratory patterns ?
I have had feeders set up for 22 years and yesterday one paid them a visit for the first time that I am aware of. Saw him again this morning if for only a fleeting moment.
I would like to create a impromtu set up so I can get a non feeder image if possible if he might stick around for awhile. What I don't want to do is scare him right off if he is liable to be here for only a short period as I would rather just enjoy his presence then.
Thanks for any info.
Truly a grab shot as it was ISO 2000 hand held @ 700mm wide open and slow.
Mike,
Assuming that this was taken in Florida, what you have is one that probably stayed for the winter. They start migrating through the gulf coast states in March and peak in April for numbers. Some stay to breed while others go further inland and then there's an influx again in the fall as most move south again while a handful stay.
