    Default Peregrine Falcon in flight

Had a chance to see a peregrine falcon got driven away by a gyrfalcon today.

    D700 + 300f2.8 +1.7TC = 500 ISO 800 f7.1 1/1000s hand-held, manual exposure mode.

    Cropped.

As common as they are, today was the third time ever I'd seen a peregrine falcon while out photographing anything. And was the first time ever to shoot it in flight. So please bear with me.

    Comments welcome !

    Thank you for looking !!

Wow, Desmond, good job! You got the face and eye crystal clear with a pretty good HA and I actually like that both wings are blurred as it really sets off how sharp the eye area is. The one thing I feel the image might need is a bit more contrast - the bird feels a little lost and washed out with this BG. I'd either try to increase some color saturation in the BG or increase the contrast in the bird OR go high key in a black and white and really push it!

Hi Desmond. Amazing job just getting one of these speedsters in flight, and with good look and sharp eye to boot. Might wish to capture the next one a split second sooner and with better wing position, but this is certainly a great place to start.

Nice one (great eye), but when it comes to BIF you can catch anything:).

Agree maybe some contrast or selective black/gray push might pop it a bit, mostly feel - well done.

Hi Desmond - do agree with the above comments - dont think you would want any more contrast in the head area - looks fine on my screen - think its the OOF wings that is giving the feeling that everyone is referring to.
Techs look solid and good work on getting him.
Sure you would have liked a better wing position - but id take this as well.
    Good show :)

Did well to get this capture Desmond, they are a fast bird. I probably would have had nothing but sky in the viewfinder:).

Congrats on getting one of these speedsters in flight! Is this a heavy crop? The sharpening on the face has a bit of a rough look to it that sometimes comes with heavy crops.
