We who live in the Washington, DC area are bracing ourselves for an historic snow storm - this blizzard on the heals of the recent snow storm that produced this scene in my backyard. Topaz Detail 2 - Bold Detail was used to produce this result.

Bud this is an amazing black and white! There is a ton of contrast but nothing feels overdone - just right on the edge. The gray barn with the black and white of the snow/tree is a wonderful combination and the composition looks great with the barn offsetting the tree. I'd sure hang this in my home!

You people in the South seem to be getting hit with a lot of that white stuff...not that we in the North haven't gotten our fair share also. :D

I like how the effect helps define the branches while remaining subtle. Personally I might have composed slightly differently so that the branch isn't across the window.

Hi Bud, I like this a lot. The image gives the sense that the snow is about to fall from the branches due to the weight. Makes me think of some Japanese brush paintings I've seen.

    Nice image and appliciation, Bud.

Reminds me of home (of the past). However, Florida right now feels real nice! Don't need to have a snowblower down here! ;)

    Nice work! ;)

Thanks to all for your comments and suggestions. I did try a couple of other shooting positions that allowed me to include the window on the end of the outbuilding but the background was just not as interesting as it was in this image.

The white on white is lovely. I very much like the effect you got from Topaz detail--those branches are amazing. Very nice composition, with that grey shed adding a touch of interest. Wouldn't change a thing.

Bud, This image has so much depth. The winter scene is lovely. I think the shed as adds just a hint of color. Nicely done.

Thanks, Anita and Denise, for your comments. I am sorry to report that the latest snow storm (blizzard!) has dumped so much snow on the dogwood tree shown in this image that it has lost at least two limbs - nature's way to trimming, I guess.
