Hi Ignacio Excellent pose, love the raised paw, direct look and prey. Might only want a little more room ... tech wise would suggest raising the ISO for more shutter speed, any sudden movement will soften the image !! Great catch and like it a lot !!!

btw PS wise I normally run over the bg with a soft brush for smoothing, will even help after using a low iso as you did here !!!

Obvious to state but a rare capture, is this a large crop?
I would try to do some selective sharpening on the wolf itself.

I do not normally adjust other peoples posts, but I could not resist.

I did some sharpening and selective colour adjustment, I hope you do not mind.
Not being familiar with this animal I am not sure if the clour adjustments are too strong.

Thanks Alfred. I think I just forgot to change my ISO settings for this. At 4,000 meters high the weather changes very drastically in a matter of seconds, from sunny to very dark. And I'm still a little obsessed by noise from pre-1D days.

What kind of brush do you run over the BG?

Ken, this is a very slight crop, just a little from the left. These wolves can be quite approachable as long as you don't leave your vehicle. I just was lucky to find this one near the road.

Thanks for taking the trouble, I like the sharpening. The original had some selective sharpening already, what did you use for yours? Colour wise, in my monitor both versions look almost identical

    Ignacio,

Yes the colours do not look much changed, I just toned down the reds a bit in Selective colour, but it does not look like it on here.
For sharpening I made a duplicate layer and applied Smart Sharpen at 100% at radius 0.2, lens blur, I then erased the sharpening on the background.
I would love to have the opportunity to take a few shots of this Wolf!
Can I ask how you arranged your trip.

    Very well seen Ignacio,

The extra sharpening has certainly helped. The eye contact and prey really strengthen this image.

    Cheers

Brilliant sighting Ignacio, with prey too. Like the extra sharpening Ken did. Like your avatar, :). Nicely done.

Good direct eye contact, and I like the raised paw. I like how we can see his meal. Ken's repost works well.
