    Default Sandhill Gaining Speed

One aspect of Sandhills I love is to photograph an isolated one as it goes through take off. This one is running on solid ice.

David, lovely running posture on the take off, and a good ss to achieve good sharpness. I like the overall detail too. Well captured.

Fantastic action pose. The bird appears quite focused on the take-off. I like the wing as background to the bird's head, so it really stands out. Excellent sharpness too. The background appears quite blue. That may have been the true color of the ice, but it seems that it may be a bit over-saturated.

Awesome pose with great eye contact. Excellent sharpness and DOF. Kind of looks like the old animated Roadrunner cartoon! Perhaps a little NR on the BG, and I'd remove the OOF gray spot up top above the bird's left wing.

Fantastic action and wonderful light and colors. The blue of the ice is a perfect match for the warm light and the bird.

    That is stunning!
Wing position, light, sharpness, eye contact and action are all superb. well done.
I'm surprised to say that it looks a bit noisy.

Thanks everyone. Your comments and suggestions are appreciated. I'll run a round of noise reduction on the bg, but most of what you see is the frozen ice.
