Early this morning the sun was behind the clouds and there was a slight breeze -- and it was cold! This bird was one of four foraging in the mud flats at low tide. I cropped, adjusted and sharpened the image minimally in LR. One goal was to eliminate the white "blinkie" problem "in camera", without having to PP it at all. I think I succeeded in that. Should I have removed the mud in the bottom left corner, etc.? How about my old nemesis -- noise? C&C, please.
Hi Wendell,
I like the feather detail and the reflection. I did notice the mud in the LLC but cropping it more might throw your composition off balance and put the reflection too close to the bottom of the image.
HI Wendell - I would get rid of the mud via some quick masks.
Like the HA and the hairdo :)
A little bright in some spots maybe and lacking in fine detail, noise looks alright just wondering if you applied it to the whole image??
Wendell - HA looks good. Exposure seems close to me, but just a bit hot in a few spots. There seems to be a bit of a bluish cast in places. Personally I'd get rid of the mud. Lower capture angle would have been nice, but of course not always possible.
i thought I was beginning with a pretty good image, fairly sharp and with little noise, so I applied mild NR to the entire image -- wrong thing to do, as you have pointed out previously -- it must have messed up the sharpness as well. Please outline the steps you take to handle noise. Do you use just PS or do you have an add-on (or stand-alone) such as Noise Ninja, or whatever?
