Default Portrait of a Cooper's Hawk

Portrait of a young perched Cooper's Hawk. This is not a captive bird. No appats used during the photo, just a lot of patience...

    All C&C welcome and appreciated.

    Thank you

Bonne journée à tous et à toutes

Nice pose with good eye contact. I like the bird against the dark BG. You've got a steady hand to pull off 1/40 at 420mm, but I would still sharpen the bird just a little more.

    Julien:

Striking image because of the dark background. The one downside is that the beak does tend to blend into the background a bit. As Doug mentioned, it is a bit soft, but considering the shutter speed and magnification, you did well.

It would be interesting to hear the story behind how you got so close to this fellow!

    Cheers

Good exposure and head angle. It look like a little to much NR on the bird.

Very nice portrait, not bad for s/s, shame the bill gets lost into the neck feathers.

    Big welcome to BPN!
