    Default Soaring Harrier

A grab shot at the Bosque. I like the underwing detail. For me there's enough eye contact. What do you all think?

agree Doug. The diagonal placement makes it a strong comp. That has turned a grab shot into a very good shot IMO.

    Doug:

The eye position fits with the story, hunting or checking out environment, so I am Ok with it. The underwing detail is nice, as mentioned.

    Cheers

Great shot - 600mm hand held - boy you must be doing some weight training to hold that monster!:)

I do like the detail and light on the underwings. I am not crazy about the shooting angle. It's a good shot for a field guide IMO.

Bird is doing what she needs to do, hunt. It is absurd and unrealistic to expect every bird going about their business to be looking at the photographer. Nice detail all around and killer diagonal.

There's enough wingspread and detail there, even before one looks at the eye, so this works for me Doug. Im surprised you didnt use any + EC to get that exposure from the underwings. Well captured.

I love the fact that you can say what I couldn't my dear friend. :) For crying out loud, it's a grab shot not something he set up painstakingly for six months.

Your image is very nice Doug. As said, lots of detail and lovely composition. But what would I know? My only Q is where was the MkIV?

    Hi,

Looks to be dark eyes to me - young harrier, probably female. Harriers (unlike most other raptor spp.) have light(er) eyes when adult...
