    Default Snowy Junco

We had a nice snow last night and I took the opportunity to do some photography. This junco was hopping through the snow and I really liked the snowy flecks all over the breast.

Nikon D300, 80-400 mm @400, 1/400 s @f 8, ISO 400 Post processing, levels, curves, slight cleaning up of beak and sharpening. Comments welcome.

I like this too. The head is tack sharp but the body sort of dissolves away into the snow. The falling snow really adds to the image. I agree with the cloning suggestion. Nice work Linda.

Thanks all. Yes, the body dissolving into the snow is what caught my eye. Caught the dust bunny and the "dirty" snow by the bird. Easy cleanup.

Norm's "stable" but still in ICU and waiting for all the test results to be in.

I really like the mood of the photo. Most of all, I like that the body of the bird indicates the softness of the snow (the newness). The detail and sharpness of the top of the bird works well with the softness of the bottom.
Black and white aspect of the image is a real plus.
I might crop a little off the bottom and add a little to where the bird is looking.

    Nice photograph.

Great mood to the image. I too like the snow flakes bouncing around the chest.

Thanks everyone. Photography is a great way to forget the trials of life at this time. Now we're going to be hit by a huge snowstorm tomorrow. Lots more opportunity to photograph the snow.
