    Default HDR Photostudio

Do any of you in the HDR crowd use, and recommend, HDR Photostudio? I see where this software is now available for us OS X based users.

I have been using Photomatix Pro and love it, but honestly I have not tried any other so I really canīt help you.

I see it has a free trial. Why not download it and give it a try. Let us know what you think.

I may do that but I'm not sure how useful a review from someone who has never attempted HDR would be. The lack of endorsement from any users may already be more telling.

Hi Declan, I have both Photomatix pro, and Photostudio on my computer and use both. Both will work well for hdr and each has advantages in different situations. Photomatix seems to be the standard but I will note the features that I like in photostudio are the halo control and what they call veiling glare, which is kind of like adjusting blacks. Photostudio describes it as reducing the haze created by light bouncing around inside the lens (not flare). At any rate it puts more pop into a shot. Photostudio seems to be just a touch more flexible once you get used to it's features (IMHO). Bottom line, both are great programs or plugins and will give great results if used properly.

Thanks for the mini-review Dave. A nice succinct summary of the features of each.

i would suggest you to try the Enfuse method instead Photomatix Pro. been using enfuse for my panorama since year now and it produces really very realistic tones than photomatix . not much expert on techs to guide you but you should take a look at it.

Thanks Mital, I've been meaning to try out Enfuse as it is available as a Lightroom plugin which fits better into my workflow. Good to know it gets a good review from you.
