    Default Drinking Tern

It is interesting to see that these guys activate their nictitating membrane whilst swooping down for a drink. This is a swift tern having a drink in the Milnerton lagoon in Cape Town.

Love the action and comp, Stuart ! The trailing water droplets sure do a nice job of portraying 'motion.'

Not knowing the specific traits of this tern, I was wondering if there's any feather detail to be derived in the neck, and whether the eye might be more prominently visible.

    Overall, it's a delightful action capture! :)

    Stuart:

Always a challenge to expose these black and white birds, and you throw in the reflections of light off the water, it gets to be a real challenge! It might be possible to tease out a bit more detail in the whites, if as Bill wondered, there is much there to start with.:)

Nice pose, stream of water, perfect angle in frame.

Very nice Stuart, love the action, you did well, a tad more detail in the whites and under the wing area will enhance the photo further. Tough exposure to deal with!

Great action with the water trail. The membrane makes the eye difficult. I like the water reflections under the wing. Good one!!

Tough exposure bro for sure. I think the whites are a little bright at first glance. Still, the pose is grand and love the water drops underneath. How big a crop is my Q, as it appears a little detail-less. Thanks mate. :)
