    Default hawfinch

This is a bird that lives in sweden and it is very shy. We dont have all that many of them and they dont often come into you garden so that you can see them. Most of the time they live high up in the threes. But this winter it has been really cold and a lot of snow so there is no food for the birds. We must help the birds by feeding them and one of the results is that the Hawfinch comes down to the ground to pick sunflower seeds. The hawfinch has a really large beek for its size and it can crusch a cherry stone. Its a shame I did not get the whole tail but I had no choise but take the picture, the bird sat down for a few seconds and then jumpt down to the ground.

Beautiful shot. Great sharpness. I like the soft light and the composition.
Only wish there was more of the beautiful blue in the background.

Superb detail captured and a lovely bird. I like the snow-covered perch. The blue is very pretty, but because it occupies such a small portion of the frame it draws my eye away from the bird. I'd probably desaturate the blues a few points. The only other thing that catches my eye is OOF vertical gray stuff on the left. I might crop a little tighter to eliminate it from the frame.

Super sharp, killer bird, and great colors. Getting higher would have helped a ton, both to get more blue in the frame and to get over the o-o-f clump of cut-off twigs (that are quite distracting). For the re-post I cleaned up the left frame edge and eliminated the clump thing.

Thanks Doug. A few too many repeating pattern though....

Patricia, was this at a feeder set-up or was it a totally natural capture?
