    My first session for 2010,
    Had great time with this wonderful bird, some of them were in full summer / breeding plumage
    while others were still in there winter plumage.
    This specimen is in between.
    ~ 90% of the original, 40D 400/f5.6
    Iso 250, 1/1250, f/6.3, EC 0
    All C&C are appreciated and thanks for looking

    Nice detail, pose, light. I might crop a bit from the top and leave a little more room behind the bird. Also a lower angle may not have been possible but that could have made a slightly more intimate portrait. Excellent shot.

    Excellent detail ! Agree regarding more room on the right and a bit off the top.

    I like the light, head angle, sharpness and fluffed-up pose. I agree with Ofer's crop suggestion.

    Like the look-back head turn and the fluffy butt. And yes to a bit more room behind the bird. Is the yellow base of the bill an indicator of breeding plumage?

    Is the yellow base of the bill an indicator of breeding plumage?
    Yes, that is one of the signs. the overall colors are becoming richer and deeper, the throat and cheecks gets a beautiful chestnut color.
    hopefully I'll be able to share with you some more pictures of those beautiful bird in full breeding plumage in the near future, maybe just maybe with thier chicks...
