BPN gets many pictures of Bald Eagles each year. The "
Flying" posies get the most comments and accolades. This pict was an effort to make a "Wall Hanger
" with the minimum of environment.

    Slight crop - NIK sharpening.

Hi Rob. It's always a treat to get so close to such a majestic bird. It does look like it was underexposed to me. I see a bright halo around the bird from post processing, and a lot of digital noise in the background. I bet all three things could be fixed with a little photoshop work though.

Hi Rob, I like the look back pose. The head angle is pretty good as it almost parallel to the camera sensor with just a small angle towards the viewer. On my monitor I see a color cast. I tried a couple of fixes and the one that I think worked best was setting the black, white, and mid-point (neutral gary) This in my opinion made the bird look more natural. This procedure did how every remove the color from the sky. I cropped some off the bottom and left side (our left) to remove some of the perch as I did not think it was adding to the image. I then removed any of the remaining lower branch. I added a couple of point to the blacks and neutrals in selective colors. I also blurred the background to eliminate the artifacts. I resized to BPN size limits and sharpen. I am sure that with the original file you could produce better results. Just a suggestion your image your vision. Thanks for sharing.

PS. After posting I noticed the eye looks a little off. I probably would preform a some eye-doctor on it (Arthur Morris Digital Basics and/or Robert O'Toole's APTATS-1).
