    Default Nik sofware/vievaza 2 plugins

Hi Gang, i had a chance to see this software in action last pm. The question i have is; would you order the version to work with CS4,(Complete package) which cost double, or the LR 2.6/Aperture package which is half of the Ultimate CS4 ) price. I was amazed at the ease of using the plugins, define, sharpen, and vievaza 2, i love the point control feature. Just wanted to check with the pros here, so i do not make the wrong investment. Dang this hobby is costing some money!! :) :) At least we're contributing to the economy!:D
    TIA
    Don

the full package can run in PS and lightroom. I like both options myself. the problem with using it out of lightroom is you can only use one set of settings. once you apply it; it saves the document back into lightroom. You would have to reopen it every time if you were going to apply multiple settings be it viveza or nik color effects pro, etc. Hence, the option to run out of PS CS 4. you can run all the plug ins various times without having to reopen the file each time.

Thks Mike, so if i understand you, it might be better for me as a newbie to order the complete version(photoshop CS4 version define, sharpener, and Vievaza2) that is hosted with in CS4.... And be able to engage multiple plugs at the same time. Man, this learning curve is steepm just learning the proper nonmenclature/ "terms", is a chore. However the point control ease of manipulation was awesome with the Nik plugins. Of-course, unless i'm missing something here.
You can't order a version that is housed with both lr and cs4 at the same time... can you???

Hey Don, if you order the Nik products from Nik let me know I can save you 15% on the cost. The Viverza 2 and color efex programs are awesome.

Getting the full up version allows you to use the plug-ins on a layer which gives a lot more control.

Don, not sure of which set of plug ins you want, but the ones I use constantly besides Viveza II is Nik Color Effects Pro. The Silverfx is great if you use B&W. I do not like the sharpener, because it tends to over sharpen in my opinion I hear it is good for printing your own stuff though. I've not used define. But if you get any of the plug ins for PS, then you also get the plug in for LR. I use it out of LR only if I'm going to use one simple fix. But if I'm going to run it more than once, you really need to run our of CS4. Also, in CS 4 you can undo the plug in and have it add the effect as a layer. In LR, you're stuck with it since it saves the new version as a new file.
