From this PM at estero. Rain most of the day. Got out to the lagoon for a short while before dark. Still fighting the overcast/flat light. I thought the state of Florida was the Sunshine State. Might have to think of a new name.:confused::confused:

    Joe:
Nice display of bill, flying drops, eye. Remarkably good DOF for this f/stop.

    What lens and camera?

The conditions you describe would encourage me to carry my flash for a bit of fill.

I might consider cropping down from the top, perhaps 1/3 of the free space.

    Cheers

    Randy

PS: Joe, I would also consider a modest mid curve boost, as it really helps the bird stand out, gives it a bit more life, IMO. I did try it, I think you will like it.

    Joe:

Sorry I missed the fill comment. Still think you can perk it up with curves!

You made good use of the situation, Joe, and came away with a beauty. Your use of dof is great and the icing on the cake is that piece of green stuff tangled in his foot and all the water drops.

I love the colors (pinks/creams). They bring out the softness of the feathers - or rather you did with the photo. I also like that it looks like the birds eye contact is with the 'green stuff' on its leg (an expression of exasperation maybe?).

    Simple and elegant photo.
