I saw the family of four Cormorants every morning, moving from their sleeping place on a tree to their fishing places on a big rock in the see.
So I tried to capture them with slow shutter speed in the morning light.
To me it looks a bit flat. How can I improve the image?

Hi Rosl Love your idea of going with a slow shutter speed In this situation trying to obtain a sharp image is impossible Did noticed our compensation In early morning light you will be going + 1 or more !!!! Depends were you are pointing The under exposure gave you the flat appearance
Making the image lighter is the way to go but not through conventional means It would change the colors and turn it to mush I used a different method Changed from RGB space to LAB Will try to get a tutorial on how to but working in that color space is a bit complicated
If you do expose correctly in your histogram you will avoid all these changes Would do a test exposure in case something comes up With practice you can dial in the compensation on the nose every time !!!
....btw also cropped a bit from the bottom You also get a Big Congrats on the composition !!!
Love those blurred wings on the cormorants, Rosl. Alfred's reprocessing has really brought out the beautiful early morning colors that add a lot to the scene. There are some portions of the blurred water that really look nice, so I think it is worth investigating several panoramic crops. Are there other birds (gulls, herons, etc.) that might also fly by in this location? There could be lots of artistic possibilities here with the sky colors and great water in the background.
Thank you Alfred!
That is really, what I was looking for! You did a great job with post processing my picture!
I like it a lot!
@ Judd: I don't have to opportunity to create new pictures, because I took the image above in Egypt, where I was only for 7 seven days.....
Thank you for looking at my picture!
