    Default 7D duck test

It has been rather dull and snowy here in Switzerland ever since I got my 7D, but I managed to get out with some half decent light and make a couple of shots this last weekend. It was also the first real outing since I got my 300mm f4. Unfortunately there was not too much around (well within my reach at least) and I was having trouble with the mergansers (see eager to learn post).

    Camera Model Canon EOS 7D
    Shooting Mode Aperture-Priority AE
    Shutter Speed 1/500
    Aperture Value 6.3
    Metering Mode Evaluative Metering
    Exposure Compensation +2/3
    ISO Speed 400
    Lens EF300mm f/4L IS USM +1.4x
    Focal Length 420.0mm
    Flash Off

I'd say the camera passed the test! Nice simple composition.

Congratulations on the 7D. So far, I like mine a lot.
I like the shot. Good composition and nice, soft light. A polarizer might have helped to reduce the reflections on the water a bit.

I like the detail in the duck and the comp. Would consider toning down the highlights in the water behind the duck, it is a little distracting from your main subject.
