Default My Take on a Gerbera Daisy

Did some experimenting this morning with a Gerbera as my subject. This image is the result of a Zoom Blur with my 50D and 70-200 2.8L IS w/ 500D close-up filter/lens attached and tripod-mounted.

    2.0 sec @ f/20; ISO 100; -2/3 EV

Now I am off to make vegetarian holupki  for my son's girlfriend's birthday!

Ed, The Gerbera Daisy is a lovely color. It looks like multiple layers and the depth to the image is great. I really like your center comp. for this:)

The lighting, color, and transparency of the center petals is wonderful. Very nice effect, Ed.

I really do love the colors and the layers. I wonder if you could do without the stem in this case? Everything else is so circular that my eye stops right there.

Beautiful reds and oranges...you got a nice translucency to them. You might also think about taking the center of the gerbera all the way to black since the specs that are there aren't big enough to really show much detail.

Where you been hiding all weekend any way?

Thank you all for your comments, suggestions and so on. Always appreciated for sure.

Jules, I kinda like the stem if only because it adds to the layered feel. To me, it begs the question "Is this a multiple exposure?" The answer of course is "no". (If you want to see multiple exposures go to my website and look in the "Abstracts, Flora and Macro" gallery. :D) (I may have spoken too soon. The MEs were posted but haven't appeared yet. SOON!!)

As far as a totally black center, that is easily doable. I actually pulled back the center in Viveza. It was pretty much black to begin with.

And regarding the weekend, I don't know where it went but it just flew by. I didn't get out to do any shooting... just too dang cold. But I did end up doing the iPhone series in the Farm Market yesterday. You could see more of that in my brand spankin' new "iPhone Phollies" gallery, you guessed it, on my website (that's www.itsmynaturephotography.com :D)

Today, I caught up on some sleep and then worked over the Gerbera for an hour or two. Did some processing. Completed my weekly update of my website :D. Made some holupki (stuffed cabbage) - vegetarian style so my son could take some to woo his girlfriend! ;) Stuff like that!
