lovely pose, exposure and BG here Phil. I would like to see the bird with just a hint of additional sharpening applied. I might also crop closer from the bottom to get rid of the bits of foliage under the perch.

    Phil:

very nice colors, pose, perch. A bit of noise in the background.
I appreciate Morkel's comment on the crop, but just for my taste, I would clone out the material below, in order to maintain the comp. which allows room for the bird to look into. Just personal taste, but I like the current comp.

I agree with Morkel. Cropping from the bottom to get rid of the vegetation is worth exploring. Some additional sharpening and contrast would be good too. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Phil, Nice image! I like the head angle and details of the bird. The background is also pleasing. As far as the presentation I agree with Randy's suggestion. If you crop from the bottom not only do you loose room for the bird to look into but you place the tail very close to the edge of the frame. Therefore, if this were mine I would clone out the bit of vegetation at the bottom. If it is your preference not to alter the image in this manner, I would leave it as presented.

I like the pose and perch, and would maybe give the kestrel a tad more contract. I would leave the comp as is, because taking off the bottom will leave the tail a little tight. I would maybe clone out the two bits of foliage just below the perch..

Love the perch and the green background. Really brings out the kestrel.
