    My favourite ugly bird the Australian Emu.

    Captured on a Canon 30D with a 300mm F4 IS + 1.4X Con. (420mm), 1/400 sec, ISO-800, F/5.6, Pattern metering, Shutter Priority, -0.3 step.

    We have access to one around here, captive, and his eyes are incredible, wish I had his eyelashes :)

    A bit too tight in the frame for my tastes, it could used some noise reduction and sharpening, in my opinion. Remember we need more space where the bird is looking into.

    Nice portrait. I agree with the suggestions and would also try to raise the color temperature. It has a blue cast as presented.

    Thanks folks, he was in the scrub so I needed high ISO but I have tried your suggestions, widened crop, run NN, and upped the temp.

    Crop and color temperature look much better. I might try to get the pink BG also in the upper left and right corners.

    I think Axel means to remove the hot spots in the upper left and right corners of the BG by patching with the pinker areas. I agree the repost is better.
