The white pelicans were putting on the feedbag today on the Mississippi River. Fortunately, they were eating Asian Carp, the ones that jump in boats and compete with native, big river species.

Impressive capture Danny, both for you and for the pelican :D
It is amazing how can the fish be seen through the skin of the bird, it is possible even to see the eye contact of the carp!!! Too bad that the bird was not paralel to the sensor´s plane. AThanks for sharing this interesting image :)

Quite a meal, I like the angle and captured action and wish you would have been further to your left so that the bird were angled toward you.

The eye contact with the fish looks good. :)

I am amazed that the one can see through the pouch. Thanks for sharing.

Amazing capture Danny. The light has shown the fish through the bill nicely, and an added bonus to see the fish's eye too.

    Danny:

Very interesting image, showing off the translucency of the pouch. It is amazing to me that the pouch isn't constantly damaged by fish spines when they try to swallow a large fish. I am sure the fish thrash about a lot trying to escape. The birds must be very good at keeping them oriented in such a way that the spines are compressed and don't stick out so much. Fascinating.

    Thanks for sharing.:D

Amazing photo Danny, I think having the bird tuned away was the only way to get the real image .. the fish through the pouch .. fantastic.

Thanks for the comments Randy, Dan and Malcolm. I'll send another tomorrow with eye contact on the actual bird!
