    Default January Nuthatch

An image of a Nuthatch I captured last weekend. Field conditions were cold and partly sunny/cloudy. Processing was minimal and including RAW conversion with WB adjustment followed by some contrast/brightness and USM in Photoshop Elements.

    Technical specifics:

    Camera: Canon 50D
    Lens: 300L f/4
    Aperture: f/8
    ISO: 200
    SS: 1/750s

Good for you as this is a very tricky bird for me to catch up to. You may want to remove the high lights on the beak. I really like the eye contact and look up pose. Dave

Like the pose and the HA. Great feather dtail, and I wonder about a bit more sharpening around the head area. Hard to get a shot of these guys they move so quickly.

Thanks Dave and Jackie for your comments and suggestions.

I agree that the highlights on the beak have to go.

I do have a question on the "bit more sharpening" comment. I see this comment made in regard to several images. I use USM and "Enhance Sharpening" feature. So when the comment is made about "more sharpening" what does it mean exactly, i.e. increase USM percentage, do another pass of USM only on those areas? Any guidance to help me better understand how to implement that comment would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
