It was too cold today for me to want to go out and take photos(high of 10 degrees F and wind chill on top of that ), so I played around with textures some more.
For this image, I created a vintage-type texture using several photos of mine and some spatter brushes which I downloaded here. I then overlaid it on this B&W dragonfly photo using multiply blending mode and partially masked it off the dragonfly's head. I also added a little noise. Any comments and suggestions would be most appreciated!
Thanks for commenting, Indranil and Denise. Much appreciated!
Denise, in this image I created the vignette as part of the texture. I created it by first selecting all, then Select>Modify>Border setting the width to about 200 px, and then creating a black fill layer set to 56% opacity. I then used the aforementioned spatter brushes on the layer mask to randomly erase parts of the vignette. I then did select all again, then Select>Modify>Border setting the width to about 50 px, feathered the selection by 200 px, and then created a dark brown fill layer set to 39% opacity. I then randomly painted with black on the layer mask for that layer, again using the spatter brushes.
