You must be getting tired of this wildebeest by now! I'm not :)

    Another perspective processed tonight.

Would love your feedback as opposed to the horizontally composed version posted last year (http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=46226). Does it have more or less of an impact?? Does the silhouette work better or does the detail in the wildebeest?

    Thanks in advance...

    Techs:
    Canon 40D with 100-400mm L IS USM @ 100mm
    f4.5 @ 1/6400 SS @ ISO-400

I shoulda stopped down to about f8.0 and bumper ISO up to 200 in hindsight.

    Hi Morkel

Both work for me and are totally different in feel. If I had to pick one would go for the other, like the silhouette (dark), this one works very well showing the animal well !! Would try toning the bottom part down, looks a little contrasty and shiny. Excellent image !!!

    Morkel,

To be honest, I really liked the color version of this series much better than b&w. Color had a much better feel for sky and cloud formations.

Composition is excellent and like the placement of subject.

Agree with Sid here Morkel, that big blue sky is what makes it for me.;)

I'd be happy to have all of the versions in my files, they all work as Al mentioned with different feels. Of the two mentioned, I prefer the horizontal for the expanse of the landscape. Very well done on them all. TFS
