Nice one Jackie, love the habitat too - sweet!

Assume you bumped ISO to bump shutter, IQ looks good for 800 on the 40D IMO.

Jeff, I am like you and don't like to go above 400, but at the workshop I did with Fabs and Al, they didn't seem to hesitate to try and get me to use a higher ISO to increase SS. But also did some NR too.

Jackie, I agree with you and the results speak for themselves (Al & Fabs know their stuff)

From what I just read on the 7D regarding ISO 800 and I quote "The image grain is slightly more evident at ISO 800, but detail remains very strong". I think 800 is alright and I should probably use it more in low light, anyway well done.

Loved it Jackie !!! Lots of detail and nailed the exposure Noise wise looks just fine, on some images with lots of black I might back down the ISO speed but for the most part don't mind dealing with noise if any !!! Expose properly and can use a fairly high ISO .. btw this morning I was using 3200 on the MK4 with good results.

Jackie - again very nice; the whole image works as one - nice subtle colors and textures. Beautiful, artfully done

    Cheers

Beautiful detail and color and pose and HA I would wonder about slight selctive darkening the background around the head to make it stand out more.

And indeed you did get your ID correct. In fact your capture clearly includes every important field character. Expertly done.
